Friday Night MLS: San Jose takes California Clasico

San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 LA Galaxy
Shea Salinas's 18th minute goal was enough for the Quakes to hold off LA and take the points in an intence California Clasico. The game's lone tally came off a rebound from a Quincy Amarikwa header that was saved by Donovan RIcketts.

Galaxy were pressuring for the rest of the half, but thye took a blow just after the break. Amarikwa latched onto a long ball and was clear on goal when Leonardo took him down. The defender was shown straight red for his transgressions and LA was forced to play a man down.  The Quakes may not have threatened with their greater numbers, but they controlled the run of play until the final fifteen minutes. THat's the only time LA started to put on any real pressure.

San Jose is red hot right now. They have won four straight to climb into the sixth and final playoff spot n the West. Galaxy are still in first place, but if Vancouver wins this weekend they fall into second.
