Friday MLS: DC scores two late in rain soaked affair over NYC

DC United 2-1 New York City
DC United thwarted New York City's slim playoff hopes as Hurricane Joaquin aims at the DC area.

Frank Lampard, who sends to be finding his stride in America, pot City ahead by banging home a rebound 45 servings after the opening kickoff. Even though that would hold up for most of the match, it wouldn't be enough.

Fabian Eslindola got the home side on the board in the 73rd by putting in a rebound if his own. The winner came in stoppage time from summer acquisition Alvaro Saborio.

City's playoff chances are now all but dead. They are five points back of Montreal in sixth. With only two matches remaining. On the flip side if the spectrum, DC United have clinched a playoff spot with the win.
