Toronto FC 0-2 Columbus Crew
Toronto clinched their spot in the post season last week, but they decide to flounder at home to the Crew this time around. Columbus jumps into second place thanks to goals from Ethan Finlay in the 40th and Federico Higuain in second half stoppage time. Even after going down a goal, Toronto was out possessed and out shot as their struggles against the top of the Eastern Conference continue.
New England Revolution 0-1 Montreal Impact
Ignacio Piatti's 55th minute winner cliches a playoff spot for the Impact and pretty much seals the Eastern post season field. New England tried to find and equalizer as they controlled the run of play after the goal, but nothing came. Montreal goes to the playoffs for the first time in their history and ensures that Canada will have all three of its clubs in the tournament. As it would take a truly Herculean effort from Orlando next Sunday to overtake New England, the win also virtually eliminates the Lionsfrom contention. That means the Red Bulls, Crew, Revs, Impact, DC, and Toronto will quite likely be your Eastern playoff participants this year.
Real Salt Lake 0-1 FC Dallas
Dallas claims the top seed in the West behind David Texeira's 57th minute goal on the road. RSL is now out for sure as they still had a slight prayer for the playoffs when this one started. The win also gives Dallas a slight lead in the Supporters Shield standings. They now lead the Red Bulls, who play at Philly today, by three points.
