Midweek MLS Madness: Red Bulls thwart Impact's advance, Caps clinch playoffs

New York Red Bulls 2-1 Montreal Impact
Sacha Kljestan and Lloyd Sam scored in the first half and it was enough to sink Montreal as they catch up to the rest of the league in games played. Didier Drogba scored for the Impact in the 67th minute to try and spark a comeback, but it was to no avail. The win pretty much seals the top spot in the East in the Red Bulls' favor. Montreal now has a little less buffer room on their chase got the last playoff spot. They have a game in hand and a one point lead over Orlando.

Vancouver Whitecaps 0-0 FC Dallas
Vancouver was probably lucky to escape this one with the scoreless draw intact. Blas Perez had a golden chance to win the match in the final second, but his effort skidded barely wide. The Caps clinch a playoff spot with the point and Dallas moves closer to a first round bye in the West playoffs.
