Here's a real shocker. Speaking ahead of today's friendly with Iceland, Jurgen Klinsmann said he was "thrilled' that Matt Miazga was on his way to Chelsea. He used this same word when talking about Jordan Morris staying home to play with the Sounders. Back then, I wondered what he would have said if Morris chose Germany instead, but I guess he would have been "thrilled' either way.

Another thing that would thrill Klinsmann was the debut of American teenager Christian Pulisic for Borussia Dortmund. The 17-year-old from Pennsylvania came on as a sub in the 68th minute. He didn't do anything of note, but the fact that an American who isn't even out of high school just got his debut at one of the largest clubs in one of the largest leagues in the world is something to be celebrated.

Also from the Jurgen Klinsmann thriller department, John Anthony Brooks is extending his deal with Hertha Berlin, the only club he has known. The deal will keep him in the German capital until 2019. He is enjoying a breakout year with a goal in nine starts for the Champions League challenging Hertha this season.

After spending all of six months and making five league starts with Firoentina in Serie A, Mario Suarez is reuniting with his former Atletico Madrid boss Quique Sanchez-Flores at Watford. He heads to Watford thanks to an undisclosed transfer fee and is signed through 2020.

Here's a fun little story out of League Two. Wycombe Wanderers had just sold their starting keeper to QPR, so their backup, Alex Lynch, had to start yesterday. With no other keeper on the roster, goalkeeping coach Barry Richardson, who had not played since 2005, suited up on the bench. Well, Lynch got hurt a quarter of an hour into the match and Richardson was forced to step it with Wycombe leading 1-0 over Plymouth Argyle. He kept a clean sheet in his first action in nearly 11 years and his squad won 1-0.
