Hooligan's Wake Up: Gerrard done after 2016, Bournemouth grab forward on loan

No matches were around to open our new year and it was a pretty slow news day. Getting a relatively full slate of games back today will be nice.

Steven Gerrard was the big offseason move for LA Galaxy last year. While he didn't exactly show up and play lights out, he was a nice name to have around in MLS. He is now calling 2016 his final season playing the game. The Liverpool legend is talking about returning to the club that made him a star in a coaching role, something he will probably excel at.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis is known for running a tight ship anywhere he manages. He is currently leading his squad to a mid table finish in the Premier League and isn't very optimistic about his chances of adding any real pieces to boost that standing. Pulis says that, due to financial restrictions, West Bromwich Albion will be feeding on crumbs during the transfer window. He thinks the large clubs spending money, while leaving minnows like his own West Brom out in the cold, will probably allow the table to sort itself out in a more predictable way than it already has this season.

The one actual move that went down concerns one of those little clubs in the Premier League. AFC Bournemouth are trying to secure a second season in the Premier League and have brought on Juan Iturbe on loan from AS Roma. Iturbe came to the Italian capital in the summer of 2014 and has scored once in 12 appearances this season. Bournemouth will have the option to sign the Argentinian forward permanently over the summer.
