Hooligan's Wake Up: Morris officially a Sounder, DC United take early blow

At long last, the Jordan Morris signing has been made official, and lost in the hoopla is a major injury at the USMNT training camp.

Jordan Morris playing for the Sounders is now official. At a gala event in Seattle, he signed the richest home grown contract in MLS history, which means the kid will make more than the $223,000 that Gyasi Zardes made on his home grown deal with LA Galaxy.

DC United unveiled the latest renderings of the future home this week, but yesterday they got some bad news. Goalkeeper Bill Hamid will miss 4-6 months after undergoing knee surgery. He tore his meniscus while training with the US National Team this week.

Long time Chelsea stalwart Branislav Ivanovic will remain with the club for another year. He signed a new one year deal with the Blues that will keep him there at least until the end of the 2016-17 season.

The NASL is growing, yet shrinking at the same time. With the death of the Silverbacks a couple weeks ago, the league's membership took a but of a hit, but they are also looking to expand. NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson has said the league will announce at least one west coast expansion team in the coming weeks or months.

Napoli lost to AC Milan in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals this week. During the match, Napoli manager sent a gay slur towards Milan manager Roberto Mancini. He has been fined €20,000 and banned two matches for his trouble.
