Hooligan's Wake Up: Rapids targeting Howard

Yesterday's Scores
Ligue 1
Nice 2-1 Angers
(Ben Afra PK 80', PK 84')-(Capelle 24')

Two penalties against Angers to ruin a 1-0 lead in the final ten minutes? Yikes. The first was a bit of a shaky call, but the second one a few minutes later was a clear handball in the box.

European League Tables

Liga MX
Veracruz 1-3 Leon
(Andrade 62')-(Rocha 43', Hernandez 49', Moralez 90+2')

Santos 1-0 Chiapas
(Renteria 60')

Leon downed Veracruz on the road, which caused some unpleasantness in the Veracruz owners box. Apparently upset with his coaching staff, team owner Fidel Kuri was clearly unhappy with the quality of play from his club. He lashed out at his technical director shortly before Leon put the game away with the third goal in stoppage time.

Headlines
The draw for the Copa del Rey quarterfinals took place yesterday. The big match will be a rematch of last year's final between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao. Barcelona won that match 3-1. Here is the full draw:

Barcelona v. Athletic Bilbao
Atletico Madrid v. Celta Vigo
Valencia v. Las Palmas
Sevilla v. Mirandes

the first legs will be played on January 20 with the second legs on January 27.

The Colorado Rapids traded for the top spot in allocation order for returning US nationals. They originally figured to be going after Alejandro Bedoya, who plays in France, but he has rejected the idea. Instead, they have turned their sights on Tim Howard, the much beloved Everton goalkeeper. It seems that he is dipping in quality in England and could be interested in coming to play in the States for the first time  since he was with the New York-New Jersey MetroStars (now the Red Bulls) in 2003.

Armenian international Yura Movsisyan is returning to Real Salt Lake. The forward comes back to Utah, where he played from 2007-09, as a designated player on loan from Russia' Spartak Moscow. When Movsisyan last played at RSL, the club won MLS Cup. HE has since gone on to score 48 goals in five seasons in Europe.
