Friday Night MLS: Union jump to first place with late winner over D.C.

Philadelphia Union 1-0 D.C. United
This game wasn't very aesthetically pleasing for the vast majority of the 90 minutes. There were opportunities for both sides, but nothing was going in until the final minutes. Alvaro Saborio was the main culprit providing chances for United. He was never able to penetrate the wall of James Blake, however. On the other side Tranquillo Barnetta hit the woodwork early on and had a couple more quite threatening shots throughout the game. Union won it in the first minute of second half stoppage time. Richie Marquez's boot latched onto a Sebastian Le Toux cross for the goal that sent Philadelphia Union to the top of the Eastern Conference pile.

While Union are now in the lead, at least until the end of tomorrow, D.C. United are down in sixth place. five points off Philly's pace.
