The NASL fared much better this season than they did last year at this stage. Seven of the nine second tier sides are moving along compared to only one last season. We also have plenty of amateur sides advancing to face MLS competition. La Maquina FC took care of LA Wolves and, more impressively, Kitsap Pumas hung three on their trip to Sacramento to take out the Republic. The fun stories of Lansdowne Bhoys, Des Moines Menace, and Jersey Express have, sadly, come to an end.

Canadian Championship- Second Round First Leg
Ottawa Fury 2-0 Vancouver Whitecaps
(Steele 3', Junior 41')

Toronto FC 4-2 Montreal Impact
(Osorio 13', 34', Hamilton 60', 80')-(Salazar 86', Drogba 90+1')

The first leg of the Canadian Championship gives one upset at Ottawa Fury keep Vancouver Whitecaps off the scoreboard and jump out to a two goal lead before heading out west for next week's second leg. Montreal looked to be getting destroyed by Toronto, but a couple late goals involving Didier Drogba give them home when the series shifts to Stade Saputo next Wednesday.
