Unlike Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi appears to be fit for his country. After training with the team yesterday, Argentina's leader is going to suit up for today's match with Panama. Messi had been out with a back injury suffered in friendlies leading up to Copa America, but he appears to be healed now and will be out, possibly in force, tonight in Chicago.

Manchester United midfield stalwart Michael Carrick has signed a new one year deal with the club. The 34 year old made 42 appearances for the club last year and will stick around at Old Trafford, where he has played since 2006, for at least one more season.

Swansea City are the latest European club to be picked up by American ownership. D.C. United ownder Jason Levien is heading the team to take the club over. It appears that American soccer legend Landon Donovan is among his partners. The national team hero is in advacned discussions to purchase a stake in the Welsh Premier League outfit.
