England weren't the only European power searching for a new manager. Spain was also in the same boat after legendary boss Vicente del Bosque retired after the European Championships. The Spanish have named Julen Lopetegui as del Bosque's successor. He was a goalkeeper on both sides of El Clasico and most recently managed for Portuguese giants FC Porto.

One of the few bright spots on Newcastle's relegation bound squad last year was Dutch international Giorginio Wijnaldum. He has now been sold to Liverpool for £25 million. He played in all 38 matches for the Magpies last year while scoring 11 goals.

Barcelona have splashed the cash for Portuguese international Andre Gomes. They sent Valencia €35 million for his services, but the total compensation could reach as much as €55 million if certain performance incentives are reached. Gomes had played at Valencia since being loaned from Benfica in 2013, having scored nine times over that time span.
