Full match recap

The UEFA Champions League is set to make a few changes for the 2018 tournament. They are looking to add automatic group stage spots for each of the top four leagues in Europe. At the moment, the top three leagues (Spain, Germany, and England) all get three group stage spots and one qualifying spot. Under this system, Italy would gain a spot as the fourth best league in Europe. They currently only get three places with one requiring a qualifying round match. It would add a total of five major teams right into the group stage. The main reason for this move is to slow down the chatter about a breakaway European Super League and to quell the demands for certain teams to gain automatic qualification based on "historical merit" regardless of how their domestic season turns out.

Everton have signed Crystal Palace midfielder Yannick Bolasie for £25 million. He had been with Palace for four seasons and played in 123 matches. He scored 13 times in that time span. His final Palace appearance was as a substitute in Saturday's 1-0 loss against West Bromwich Albion.

Polish born 31-year-old German striker Lucas Podolski has retired from international duty. Podolski has scored 48 goals for Germany over 129 international appearances over 12 years. He was a key part of the 2014 World Cup winning side. His last match was in a 3-0 win over Slovakia in this past summer's European Championships. He now plies his trade at Galatasaray in Turkey.
