Headlines
North America received some good news related to the hosting of the 2026 World Cup. FIFA has declared that Europe and Asia should not bid so soon after Russia hosts the 2018 and Qatar hosts the 2022 World Cups. With the United States, Mexico, and Canada all considering some form of bid, this bodes well for a World Cup in the Western Hemisphere again relatively soon. The last time the continent held a World Cup Finals was the United States in 1994. A host will hopefully be chosen by 2020.

Also emerging from the FIFA Council meeting was the word that a final ruling on an expanded 2026 World Cup will be given at the next meeting on January 9-10.

With Arjen Robben still recovering from injury, Julian Green could be in position to start his first Bundesliga match with Bayern Munich. Bayern takes on Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. He is in good form right now, having scored in both of the USA's friendlies over the international break. He is yet to score for Bayern in any of the friendlies or Cup matches he's featured in.

Liga MX is the most American of the non-American soccer leagues, and they are doing something very American. Much like MLS, the Mexican first division will feature an All Star Game against a large European club. The game, probably to take place after the 2017 Clausura, will take place at Estadio Azteca.
