Yesterday's Scores

Uruguay 2-1 Ecuador
(Coates 12', Rolan 45+1')-(Caicedo 45')

Paraguay 1-4 Peru- 6:30pm

Venezuela 5-0 Bolivia
(Kouffaty 3', Martinez 10', 67', 70', Otero 74')

Brazil 3-0 Argentina

Seven matches remain in the marathon CONMEBOL qualifying cycle and Brazil are on top of the pile with 24 points. They are eight points clear of qualification and one point ahead of second place Uruguay. Colombia and Ecuador sid in third and fourth respectively which rounds out the automatic qualifying places. Fifth place Chile would have to take on an OFC side in a playoff to secure a spot. After their 3-0 defeat at Brazil, Argentina are currently outside the qualifying picture, a single point back of Chule for fifth position. Paraguay and Peru are right behind them as well. Venezuela's thrashing of last place Bolivia was their first win of the cycle as they sit second from the bottom.

The first of MLS's post season awards goes out to Jordan Morris. The Seattle Sounders forward won the Rookie of the Year award thanks to his 12 goals on the season, which is second most for a rookie in MLS history. Morris signed the richest homegrown deal the league has ever seen after turning down a contract offer from Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. He was much hyped heading into the season thanks to his debuting for the United States Men's National Team before making his professional debut. I'd say he lived up to the hype in year one.
