Hooligan's Wake Up: Chelsea go top with domination of Everton

Yesterday's Scores
Premier League
AFC Bournemouth 1-2 Sunderland
(Gosling 11')-(Anichebe 33', Defoe PK 74')

Despite going down to ten men around the hour mark, Jermaine Defoe's penalty gave Sunderland their first win of the season. They are still at the bottom of the pile, however, with only five points.

Burnley 3-2 Crystal Palace
(Vokes 2', Gudmundsson 14', Barnes 90+4')-(Wickham 60', Benteke PK 81')

Manchester City 1-1 Middlesbrough
(Aguero 43')-(de Roon 90+1')

This is a big drop of points for Manchester City. they dominated play for much of this game and were unlucky not to have scored three or four on Victor Valdez, who was heroic in goal during the first half. Marten de Roon's headed equalizer gave Middlesbrough another road point agaisnt a title contender. They fought Arsenal to a scoreless draw at the Emirates two weeks ago.

West Ham 1-1 Stoke City
(Antonio 65')-(Krkic 75')

Chelsea 5-0 Everton
(Hazard 19', 56', Alonso 20', Costa 42', Pedro 65')

This was a real statement win for Chelsea. They are getting production from Eden Hazard once again and beating up on some solid squads. They are on quite the run right now. They are unbeaten in five Premier League matches since a 3-0 loss at Arsenal and have outscored their opponents 16-0 in those games. This win takes them atop the league, at least until Liverpool and Arsenal play today.

Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 SV Darmstadt 98
(Calhanoglu 32', Brandt 56', Aranguiz 69')-(Colak 47', Vrancic 85')

Bayern Munich 1-1 TSG Hoffenheim
(Zuber 34')-(Demirbay 16')

This wonderful coup by Hoffenheim leaves Bayern Munich only three points clear of the top in the Bundesliga with their closest rivals, RB Leipzig, still to play this weekend. It's possible that by the end of today, the impressive tale that is RB Leipzig will be level on points at the top with the giants of Germany.

North American League Tables

I mentioned Geoff Cameron's knee injury yesterday and how he would likely be unfit for the Mexico match on Friday. Well, Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has asked Jurgenn Klinsmann to leave the defender off the roster for next weekend's qualifiers. Hughes said he would be "aggrieved" if he was, in fact, called up. The roster for this round of qualifiers will be announced later today.
