Hooligan's Wake Up: Fire open up talks with Schweinsteiger

Ysterday's Scores
World Cup Qualifying- UEFA
Austria 0-1 Ireland
(McClean 48')

Georgia 1-1 Moldova
(Kazaishvili 16')-(Gatskan 78')

Wales 1-1 Serbia
(Bale 30')-(Mitrovic 85')

Ireland's win over Austria on the road puts them two point atop this wide open group. They had been tied with Serbia, who are sitting right behind them in second place after only taking at point in Wales. The Welsh are in third at the moment, two points back of Serbia and by no means out of it. Georgia and Moldova are merely battling for who doesn't finish last at this point.

Albania 0-3 Israel
(Zehavi PK 18', Einbinder 66', Atar 83')

Liechtenstein 0-4 Italy
(Belotti 11', 44', Immobile 12', Candreva 32')

Spain 4-0 Moldova
(Velkovski OG 34', Vitolo 63', Monreal 84', Aduriz 85')

Span and Italy are where this group begins and ends. They are level with each other on ten points, which puts them only a point ahead of third place Israel, who also won today. They are yet to play Spain and their only loss so far was to Italy. So, it doesn't look good for them to stage an uprising to oust one of the favorites, but at least they are in the conversation.

Croatia 2-0 Iceland
(Brozovic 15', 90+1')

Turkey 2-0 Kosovo
(Yilmaz 51', Sen 55')

Ukraine 1-0 Finland
(Kravets 24')

Croatia are the best side here and they are rightfully atop the group. Iceland doesn't seem to be carrying over their Euro magic into World Cup Qualifying. They are in third, but really didn't show up to this match in hostile territory. Ukraine are in second place, two back of Croatia after their win against Finland. Turkey also won over newcomers Kosovo and sit in fourth position.

World Cup Qualifying- CAF
Cameroon 1-1 Zambia
(Aboubakar PK 45+5')-(Mbesuma 34')

Nigeria 3-1 Algeria
(Moses 25', 90+2', Mikel 42')-(Bentaleb 67')

One of the two African giants of Nigeria and Cameroon will not be in the World Cup. Cameroon did themselves zero favors by dropping points at home to Zambia. After two matches, Nigeria is out to a four point buffer over Cameroon, who only have two draws to their name,

Mali 0-0 Gabon

Morocco 0-0 Ivory Coast

A bunch of scoreless draws means Ivory coast remain in front with four points, followed by Gabon and Morocco with two and Mali with only the one.

South Africa 2-1 Senegal
(Hlatshwayo PK 43', Serero 45+1')-(Ndoye 75')

Cape Verde Islands 0-2 Burkina Faso
(Diawara 2', Nakoulma 29')

South Africa and Burkina Faso, both victorious here, are in pole position with four points each. Senegal is right behind them, however, with three of their own. Burkina Faso has never qualified for the World Cup, so it would be a big deal if they could hang on to win this. South Africa made it as hosts in 2010, but it hasn't been since 2002 that they made it the old fashioned way.

Uganda 1-0 Congo
(Miya 18')

Uganda jumps in front of Group E, although Egypt and Ghana are yet to play their second match. Egypt are in second with three points and Ghana sit down in third with one. A win for either side by more than a goal will send them into the lead when tomorrow is over.

World Cup Qualifying- OFC
Solomon Islands 1-0 Tahiti
(Poila 90+2')

These two have split their home and home over the past week and thus are tied for the top spot in Group B, which will move on to fave the winner of Group A (going to be New Zealand) in a playoff for the right to play a South American side in another playoff. The will both play a home and home with Papua New Guinea to close out the round.

Headlines
As Bastian Schweinsteiger continues to fall out of favor at Manchester United, rumors continue to swirl around about him making a move to MLS. Well, Chicago Fire evidently have his discovery rights and are in talks with the former German international. He was seen meeting with Fire coach Veljko Paunovic the other day, but it was cautioned that this is only a first step, any talks between the two have not gone very far, yet. A move to MLS seems quite natural for Schweinsteiger. He doesn't seem to have a home in England and could make himself quite the paycheck in America like many of his piers have done.
