Welsh club The New Saints have won their 27th match in a row. Their 2-0 win over Cefn Druids breaks a record for consecutive wins held by Ajax Amsterdam set back in 1972. New Saints are in the middle of a run that could lead to their sixth straight Welsh Premier League title and potentially their third domestic treble in a row.

Houston Dynamo have brought on Colombian midfielder Jan Cabezas on loan from Deportivo Cali. They will have the option to buy the 25 year old permanently at the end of the season. He spent last season with Independiente Medellin, where they won the first half championship.

Hooligan's Wake Up: Landon Donovan may play in 2017

Yesterday's Scores
None.

Headlines
It appears that noteveryone is immune to the monetary pressures of China. Cristiano Ronaldo has spurned a most lucrative offer from the Far East. He was offered a €100 million annual salary to join an unnamed Chinese club. They offered Real Madrid a€300 million transfer fee as well.

Landon Donovan's career may still not be over. He apparently has been talking with Real Salt Lake about continuing his career. He has a two (!) year Designated Player deal on the table from them and supposedly one other from an Eastern Conference team. Donovan had been retired for nearly two years before returning to LA Galaxy late last season, where he scored once in six regular season and three playoff matches.

Hooligan's Wake Up: Infantino's 48 team World Cup receives "overwhelming" support

Yesterday's Score

Southampton 1-4 Tottenham
(van Dijk 2')-(Alli 19', 87', Kane 52', Son 85')

Headlines
In a vague endorsement of his own 48 team World Cup idea, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has said that federations are "overwhelmingly in favor" of his expansion plan. His idea is to have a group stage featuring 16 groups of three teams with the top two moving along to a round of 32. Expanding the World Cup was a major part of Infantino's campaign to get himself elected and likely has the support of many smaller federations who don't qualify for the tournament on a regular basis. He made no mention of which federations are supporting him. Also, no confederation has come out supporting or working against the plan. My personal feelings are that Infantino is over thinking this plan and trying to bring too much radical change to a very strong 32 team format.

Former Manchester City star Carlos Tevez will be the latest player headed to China on a filthy tirch contract. He's spend the last couple years with Boca Juniors in Argentina since he was disgracefully shoved out of Manchester. The move is clearly about the money. He will join the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua for a transfer fee of around $11 million. He will also make a healthy sum of more than $700,000 per week.

Orlando City has signed Canadian international Will Johnson to a free agent deal. Johnson played in the MLS Cup Final last season with Toronto. He has been on two cup winning teams. He was with Portland Timbers in 2015 as well as Real Salt Lake in 2009. He's pretty experienced for a 29year-old midfielder and is reuniting with Jason Kreis, who coached him at RSL for five seasons.

Hooligan's Wake Up: Bob Bradley sacked by Swansea

Yesterday's Score
Premier League
Liverpool 4-1 Stoke City
(Lallana 34', Firmino 44', Imbula OG 59', Sturridge 70')-(Walters 12')

Headlines
Bob Bradley's short lived reign as a Premier League manager has come to an end. Swansea City have sacked their American boss after only winning one out of 11 matches and accruing a mere eight points. Bradley's Swans were worse under his leadership than they were before he arrived, as mostly evidenced by their horrendous defensive record. They had given up at least three goals in their last six games, including Bradley's only win in charge, a 5-4 barn burner over Crystal Palace.

Bradley's brief tenure was pretty bad, but I would have at least liked to have seen him get a transfer window to try and improve his squad. He was given a team with very little Premier League level talent, none of which was brought in by Bradley. I don't know if he could have saved Swansea's Premier League lives with a January transfer window, but I would have liked to see him try.

As for who could get the nod to replace him, Ryan Giggs has already come up. The Welsh former Manchester United star always seems to come up when the Swansea job opens up, even though he has even less managerial experience than Bradley. He did interview for the job before the Bradley hiring.

While this may be the end of Bradley's run in the Premier League, I certainly think he could end up getting another European managerial run. He was in a little over his head in England's top flight, but he proved he was capable down in the second division in France, had a successful international run with Egypt, and the USA before that. He's apparently being mentioned as a possibility for the vacant Norwegian National Team job. He did take the Norwegian club Stabaek to the Europa League before moving to France.

However, I would like him to take another second tier club job and fight for promotion. Maybe he returns to Le Havre and finishes their promotion campaign to Ligue 1. Maybe he latches onto a Serie B team in Italy and lifts them to Serie A. Given the time and success, perhaps he could even show up at a Championship side and give himself another crack at a lower end Premier League team. I just hope he stays abroad and doesn't come back home to the states. He's too good for MLS.

FC Dallas have made the first MLS free agent signing of the winter by bringing in Javier Morales. The former Real Salt Lake midfielder brings some experience to a young Dallas squad that won both the Supporters Shield and U.S. Open Cup last year. He had a great run in Utah. He scored 49 goals in his ten years there as a regular in their starting lineup.

Chelsea have now won 12 matches in a row and are only a home victory against Stoke from tying the Premier League record  of 13 wins in a row. Two weeks later, they will head to White Hart Lane with a chance to break that mark.

Liga MX Playoffs- Final Second Leg (From Sunday)
UANL 1-1 Club America (2-2 on aggregate, 3-0 on penalties)
(Duenas 119')-(Alvarez 95')

In an absolute thriller that I wish had not taken place on Christmas Day, Tigres get a late equalizer from Edson Alvarez and win in penalties to take their second consecutive Apertura title.

Headlines
We're heading into the January transfer window, which is the less crazy of the two periods where players can move between clubs. With the Christmas season usualyl leading to slow news days, I'll use this space to issue my usual warning of being aware of the nonsensical rumors that fly around this time of year. Over the coruse of the next month, you will read a story or hear a pundit discuss an infinite number of possible trasfers. Maybe two of these will actually happen. You will not see any rumors reported here, only actual signings. I will not be responsible for proliferating any whispers of Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid, or Messi heading to Manchester City.

Headlines
Alan Pardew's tenure as Crystal Palace manager has come to an end. He was let go by the club yesterday after just about two years on the job. Palace are struggling this year. they sit only a point above relegation and are currently on a run of only one win in their last 11 games. Who is leading the chase to replace him? Why another old retread Premier Manager, of course. It's Big Sam Allardyce, who was disgracefully dismissed as England's manager a few months ago.

As has long been rumored, Chelsea are selling Brazilian midfielder Oscar to China. Shanghai SIPG are sending £60 million to the English leaders for his services. Oscar has scored 38 goals in 203 appearances for the Blues while helping them win the Premier League in 2015.

PSG is also on the verge of bringing in German forward Julian Draxler. The 23-year-old had been tipped for a move away from Wolfsburg for a while, now an appears to be heading for the struggling French champions for €35 million. Several English clubs, including Arsenal, were also interested in him.

Harry Shipp is on the move again. Montreal Impact are sending him to Seattle Sounders for general allocation money. After opening his career as a homegrown player with Chicago Fire, he failed to catch on in Montreal and had become an expendable piece to their puzzle. He had two goals and three assists in 27 matches last year.

Headlines
U.S. Soccer continues to delay their division sanctioning decisions for the NASL and USL. After originally slated to figure out which of the two leagues would receive D2 sanctioning on December 6, they announced a 7-10 day delay. Now, they have said their won't be a decision until after the new year. There are many factors leading to this delay. There are the expensive NASL exit fees, the uncertain state of several of the NASL clubs businesses and league ambition, and more going on behind the scenes. The only thing that is for certain now is that nothing is for certain.

Minnesota United appears to have a deal in place to bring Miguel Ibarra back to the club. Ibarra was the talisman in the Loons' attack before he was sold to Leon in Mexico. After acquiring his "discovery rights" from Portland, they now appear to have an agreement with the Liga MX side to bring him back to Minnesota.

Borussia Monchengladbach have completed their coaching change. After canning Andre Schubert, they have appointed Dieter Hecking as his replacement. He signed a deal that will keep him there until 2019. Hecking most recently coached at VfL Wolfsburg and was sacked from the gig back in October. Gladbach have only one win from their last 11 matches, and their new leader is hoping to reverse that trend.

Headlines
Real Madrid managed to score a minor victory in their appeal of their transfer ban. they have seen the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduce the ban to only this upcoming transfer window. They were found guilty of breaching youth player signing laws last winter. Atletico Madrid was also found guilty of similar offenses and appealed their ban as well, but no word on the results of their case has been announced.

While on the subject of appeals, Jamie Vardy has had his denied by the FA. The Leicester forward was sent off for a two footed tackle against Stoke last weekend and will now serve his three game suspension as originally planned.

Chicago Fire hev themselves a new designated player. They have signed Hungarian striker Nemanja Nikolic from Poland's Legia Warsaw. He has Champions League experience from this season and has scored 41 goals (six in the Champions League) in 56 matches during his time in the Polish capital. He actually rather likes scoring goals. He was the Ekstraliga's leading scorer last season and was atop the pile again this year as he leaves for America. I think Chicago will like this guy.

Houston Dynamo have also acquired a new DP. They have signed Alberth Elis on loan from Monterrey in Liga MX. The 20 year old Honduras international striker didn't see much playing time in Mexico last year, but he did have 25 in three seasons with Olimpio in Honduras before that.

Arsenal blows an early week for the second match running and now finds themselves nine points adrift of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League. Things were looking solid for the Gunners just a week ago, and since then all of the main title challengers have won two matches while they have done nothing but lose. Man City are currently in second, seven points back, and Liverpool are nine back with today's Merseyside Derby to play. The title seems like it's Chelsea's to lose at this point,

Headlines
Bruce Arena shed a little bit of light on his potential plans for January camp. Arena's first event in charge of the US Men's National Team will be an opportunity for him to work with American based players who are still in their offseason. Several players who were thought to have ended their national team careers or never got a look under Jurgen Klinsmann are being considered to come along. DaMarcus Beasley, who retired from international duty last year, Juan Agudelo, Matt Hedges, Dax McCarty, and others all have shots at a spot at the camp. The USMNT will take on Serbia and one other unannounced nation in friendlies at the end of the month.

Hooligan's Wake Up: MLS expansion timeline revealed

Yesterday's Score
Serie A
Genoa 1-0 Fiorentina
(Lazovic 37')

This match was scheduled back in September, but had to be called off thanks to a massive hailstorm.

European League Tables

Club World Cup
Club America 0-2 Real Madrid
(Benzema 45+2', Ronaldo 90+3')

Real Madrid will move on to face Japan's Kashima Antlers for the Club World Cup title. The Club World Cup is an interesting event. It features the winners of the host nation's league, in this case Kashima Antlers, and the champions of each of the six confederations. In the previous 12 events, it has been won by the European representative 8 times and by CONMEBOL four. It's normally little more than a side note in the soccer calendar.

This edition is notable because it's the first top flight trail of instant replay in the game. It was used for the first time in the semi-final between Kashima and Atletico Nacional to help award Kshima with a penalty in the 31st minute. It was also used in this match to provide Ronaldo with his goal, which was initially disallowed for offside.

Replay is a technology that can be useful to improve the accuracy of officiating. It would have come in handy for Wednesday's Manchester United-Crystal Palace match in which the referee missed a couple handballs in the penalty area. It will eventually take hold throughout the world, but the kinks need to be ironed out before that can happen. Real Madrid's Zinedine Zidane and Luka Modric echoed this statement by saying the process was a little confusing and that they didn't like the delays.

Headlines
Don Garber laid out the plan to expand MLS to 28 teams in the future. He said that teams 25 and 26 will be official by the second or third quarter of 2017. It's expected that St. Louis and Sacramento will be those next two cities to gain teams since they are furthest along in the process. They will each pay $150 million for the privilege to join the league.

After that, there is no timetable or expansion fee laid out for teams 27 and 28, but they will need to officially apply by January 31 to be considered. Common wisdom says Detroit and Cincinnati are the favorites, but a couple cities in North Carolina, Tampa/St. Petersburg, San Diego, San Antonio, and Nashville have all expressed interest.

Hooligan's Wake Up: MLS Expansion Draft nets trade chips for Minnesota and Atlanta

Yesterday's Scores
Premier League
AFC Bournemouth 1-0 Leicester City
(Pugh 34')

Everton 2-1 Arsenal
(Coleman 44', Williams 86')-(Sanchez 20')

European League Tables

Headlines
MLS held its Expansion Draft for Atlanta United and Minnesota United. they each took five players in the event. Here's the list of players taken:

Atlanta United
Donny Toia
Zach Loyd
Clint Irwin
Mikey Ambrose
Alec Kann

Minnesota United
Chris Duvall
Collen Warner
Mohammed Saied
Jeff Attinella
Femi Hollinger-Janzen

Three of these players, Donny Toia, Clint Irwin, and Chris Duvall, have already been traded away for players, GAM, or draft picks. Toia was sent to Orlando for a first round pick. Irwin was ransomed back to Toronto FC for Mark Bloom and GAM. Duvall was shipped to Montreal for Johan Venegas. This somewhat brings into question the whole idea of the expansion draft. If teams are just going to select players and then trade them away, why hole the event in the first place? Just give teams the extra money and/or SuperDraft picks they really want and be done with the whole thing.

LA Galaxy were thought to be ending their practice of bringing in past their prime players, but apparently they had at least one more to add. They have acquired the MLS rights to Jermaine Jones from Colorado Rapids in exchange for their top SuperDraft pick and some GAM. If Jones were to return to MLS, it would have to be with LA now, unless they sell off his rights to somewhere else.

Chelsea and Manchester City have been fined for their altercation a couple of weekends ago. Near the final whistle of Chelsea's 3-1 win, a bit of argy bargy sprung up that resulted in Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho being sent off. Now, Chelsea have been fined £100,000 and City £35,000 for being unable to control their players. This is the Blues' sixth fine for improper conduct in the last two years, although this penalty is less than the £290,000 they were docked for their quarrel with Tottenham last May. There was half serious talks of a points deduction coming to Chelsea for their frequent flare ups, but the FA isn't ready to take that step quite yet.

Tobin Heath has won US Soccer's Female Player of the Year award. It's her first time receiving the honor and she is the fifth different player to win it. She scored six times for the USWNT this year and 14 more for Portland Thorns in the NWSL.

The latest team to drop out of the NASL officially is Jacksonville Armada. According to Empire of Soccer, they have officially left the league behind with the aim of joining the USL. Assuming they can solve their minor ownership crisis and stadium situation in time, they hope to complete the transition in time for the 2017 season. They are the third team to leave the NASL for the USL this year with more rumored to be following.

Atlanta United made a plethora of trades yesterday. They acquired Michael Parkhurst from Columbus Crew for some General Allocation Money. They also traded some GAM to Chicago for Sean Johnson, who was immediately flipped to New York City for some GAM and Targeted Allocation Money.
