Harry Kane has extended his stay at Tottenham. The forward has signed a new contract that will pay him more than £100,000 a week until 2022. This replaces the five year deal that he signed almost two years ago. He won the Golden Boot last year with 25 goals in the Premier League, so it makes sense that Spurs would want to pay this man as much as he wants.

Oscar Pareja has won the 2016 MLS Coach of the Year award. The Colombian manager led FC Dallas to the Supporters Shield, U.S. Open Cup, and an early exit in the playoffs. He did get a lot of output from the largest crop of homegrown players in the league. Nine are on his first team roster overall. He narrowly beat out Colorado's Pablo Mastroeni by around 2% of the total vote.

Brad Guzan is considering a move to MLS. After Aston Villa found themselves relegated, he signed on with Middlesbrough, where he has been passed over for the starting goalkeeper job in favor of former Barcelona star Victor Valdes. The USMNT keeper is drawing interest from Chicago Fire, who would have to trade up with Atlanta United in the returning American allocation order.

The NASL has finished it's board of governors meetings in Atlanta with no real development on the future of the league or the New York Cosmos. We do have rumors that the four expansion possibilities may have been Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles, and... Detroit City FC. According to tweets from Nipun Chopra, these four cities are in the late stages of being added for 2018. If this is true, the league would need to survive 2017 before it can find some stability the following year. Now, this is nothing but speculation at this point. No solid news has come out from any party involved. It would be nice if somebody would speak up as to what's going on. A statement from the NASL, the Cosmos, or one of those four expansion markets would go a long way towards clearing up this mess.

Myself and Matt Pollard talked about it towards the end of the Last Word SC Podcast last night after we go over the craziness in Toronto from a couple nights ago. That should go live at some time this morning/early afternoon.
