MLS held its Expansion Draft for Atlanta United and Minnesota United. they each took five players in the event. Here's the list of players taken:

Atlanta United
Donny Toia
Zach Loyd
Clint Irwin
Mikey Ambrose
Alec Kann

Minnesota United
Chris Duvall
Collen Warner
Mohammed Saied
Jeff Attinella
Femi Hollinger-Janzen

Three of these players, Donny Toia, Clint Irwin, and Chris Duvall, have already been traded away for players, GAM, or draft picks. Toia was sent to Orlando for a first round pick. Irwin was ransomed back to Toronto FC for Mark Bloom and GAM. Duvall was shipped to Montreal for Johan Venegas. This somewhat brings into question the whole idea of the expansion draft. If teams are just going to select players and then trade them away, why hole the event in the first place? Just give teams the extra money and/or SuperDraft picks they really want and be done with the whole thing.

LA Galaxy were thought to be ending their practice of bringing in past their prime players, but apparently they had at least one more to add. They have acquired the MLS rights to Jermaine Jones from Colorado Rapids in exchange for their top SuperDraft pick and some GAM. If Jones were to return to MLS, it would have to be with LA now, unless they sell off his rights to somewhere else.

Chelsea and Manchester City have been fined for their altercation a couple of weekends ago. Near the final whistle of Chelsea's 3-1 win, a bit of argy bargy sprung up that resulted in Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho being sent off. Now, Chelsea have been fined £100,000 and City £35,000 for being unable to control their players. This is the Blues' sixth fine for improper conduct in the last two years, although this penalty is less than the £290,000 they were docked for their quarrel with Tottenham last May. There was half serious talks of a points deduction coming to Chelsea for their frequent flare ups, but the FA isn't ready to take that step quite yet.

Tobin Heath has won US Soccer's Female Player of the Year award. It's her first time receiving the honor and she is the fifth different player to win it. She scored six times for the USWNT this year and 14 more for Portland Thorns in the NWSL.
