Headlines
The expanded World Cup in 2026 still has a few kinks to work out. The first of those is how the 16 new slots will be divided up between all the confederations. The talks for those will begin next month. The only thing we know for certain is that each continent will see an increase in participating nations, with Asia and Africa likely to benefit the most.

Also out there is which nation, and how many nations, will host. The prevailing thought is that the tournament will be held in North America for the fist time since 1994. The United States, Mexico, and Canada have already begun talks for putting together some form of joint bid. If that goes through, it would be the second ever jointly hosted World Cup. The first was 2002 in Korea and Japan.

Bill Hamid, who missed much of last season with a knee injury, has pulled out of January camp thanks to aggravating the injury to his right knee. Thankfully, an MRI came back negative. He will not be on the roster for any of the friendlies coming up at the end of the month and hopes to be in D.C. United camp in a couple weeks.

Yesterday's Transfer News

  • Everton have agreed to pay £22 million for Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. He will rejoin with manager Ronald Koeman, who sold him to United from Southampton in the summer of 2015.
  • Real Madrid have loaned out teen star Martin Odegaard to Heerenveen in the Netherlands. Real brought the kid in at the age of 16 from Norwegian club Stromsgodset and has made only two senior team appearances. He will return to the club after an 18 month spell in the Eredivisie.
