North American League Tables

NASL and USL have finally learned their fates for next season and it comes with US Soccer taking the cop out option. They have granted both divisions provisional Division II status in the pyramid. As arbitrary as division rankings already were in the US pyramid, this makes them even more so. If there are just going to be two D2 teams, what is the point of having divisions at all? Neither side meets the arbitrary qualifications doe the tier, Both are getting extreme waivers to be allowed there. Does that mean the requirements are flawed? Are both leagues competitively worthy of the second tier? All this decision does is kick that can down the road for at least another year. More will come from me later today at Last Word on Soccer, so stay tuned.
