Hooligan's Daily: Republic FC expansion dispute resolved

Yesterday's Scores
Premier League
Chelsea 3-1 Arsenal
(Alonso 13', Hazard 53', Fabregas 85')-(Giroud 90+1')

Everton 6-3 AFC Bournemouth
(Lukaku 1', 29', 83', 84', McCarthy 23', Barkley 90+4')-(King 59', 70', Arter 90')

Watford 2-1 Burnley
(Deeney 10', Niang 45+2')-(Barnes PK 78')

Hull City 2-0 Liverpool
(Ndiaye 44', Niasse 84')

West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Stoke City
(Morrison 6')

Crystal Palace 0-4 Sunderland
(Kone 9', N'Dong 43', Defoe 45+1', 45+3')

Southampton 1-3 West Ham
(Gabbiadini 12')-(Carroll 14', Obiang 44', Noble 52')

Tottenham 1-0 Middlesbrough
(Kane PK 58')

Chelsea's methodical demolition of Arsenal keeps their nine point advantage safe and mostly confirms them as the likely champions. Tottenham are their closest competitors in second place, and the two sides do not meet for the rest of the season. Nothing short of a Blues collapse will prevent them from lifting the trophy in May.

Elsewhere, Liverpool's disastrous tailspin continues thanks to a sorry defeat at Hull. Once thought to be title contenders, the Reds are now only clinging to a top four spot by the slimmest of margins. Injuries and the Africa Cup of Nations are to blame, but overall Liverpool have lost plenty of matches they really should have won, including this one.

TSG Hoffenheim 4-0 Mainz
(Uth 5', Terrazzino 81', Szalai 86', 90+1')

Hertha Berlin 1-0 FC Ingolstadt 04
(Haraguchi 2')

Bayern Munich 1-1 Schalke 04
(Lewandowski 9')-(Naido 13')

Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0 SC Freiburg
(Stindl 73', Raffael 78', Herrmann 90+2')

FC Koln 1-0 VfL Wolfsburg
(Modeste PK 81')

Borussia Dortmund 1-0 RB Leipzig
(Aubameyang 35')

Bayern Munich's lead atop the Bundesliga is now a solid four points thanks to Leipzig's loss to Borussia Dortmund. There is still a race, the two play each other once more this year, but Munich is not known for blowing leads atop the league, and probably won't this year,

The dispute between Kevin Nagel and Sacramento Republic that had threatened to derail the city's MLS bid is more or less resolved. The two parties had apparently been in discussions for months on how to handle to potential transition of the USL club to MLS. When a deal had not been reached by the January 31 deadline, Nagel went and submitted the bid without any mention of Republic FC. The agreement in principle will give Nagel the use of the Republic FC brand and full ownership of the team once the move into MLS is complete. Until that day comes, however, Republic's current owners will maintain control.
