Hooligan's Daily: Chelsea just a win away from another title

This match between teams at the opposite end of the table saw Middlesbrough seal their relegation fate and Chelsea come within one win of the title. The Premier League title challenge could (will most likely) come to a close Friday night when the Blues take on West Bromwich Albion on the road.

La Liga

European League Tables

The FIFA congress is meeting this week in Bahrain and the most prominent item on the agenda is the 2026 World Cup bidding. The USA, Mexico, and Canada have put forth a strong bid to host the tournament and FIFA is going to decide if they are going to give the North American trio an accelerated bidding process that could award them the bid next year, instead of in 2020. Reports indicate that there will be enough support from the federations to allow this to happen. Europe and Asia are prohibited from hosting the tournament since they have 2018 and 2022. South America is putting their energy into a 2030 bid. That leaves Africa as the only real competition. Morocco is apparently interested in bidding, but they may not get the chance.

The Canadian Soccer Association has approved plans for the start of the Canadian Premier League for as soon as next summer. The league will be the first exclusively Canadian league since the Canadian Soccer League folded in 1991. Winnipeg and Hamilton are the only confirmed cities at this point, but ten other cities are being considered. There is even a chance that FC Edmonton of the NASL and Ottawa Fury of the USL jump ship for the new domestic league. The Canadian MLS sides are most likely to stay put.
