Hooligan's Daily: Manchester United take Europa League crown

Yesterday's Scores
Europa League- Final
Ajax Amsterdam 0-2 Manchester United
(Pogba 18', Mkhitaryan 48')

And, with that, Jose Mourinho's first season with United is saved. He's won a pair of trophies in his first campaign, which is more than Louis van Gaal and David Moyes did during their combined tenures with the club. It still wasn't a great season for the Red Devils. They finished in sixth place, but will go to the Champions League thanks to this Europa victory. As a neat aside, United have now won every major European competition, joining Ajax, Chelsea, Juventus and Bayern Munich.

Lionel Messi has been trying to appeal the 21 month jail sentence he faces for tax fraud, but Spanish courts have upheld the original ruling. Messi and his father, Jorge, were found guilty of using fake companies as tax dodges to protect Messi's earnings. The 21 month sentence will stand, but anything under two years in Spain is served as probation. As long as Messi pays his taxes and generally stays out of trouble, he will avoid actually spending any time in the slammer.

Middlesbrough spent a fair amount of cash bringing in experienced Premier League players last summer. Their efforts failed, they were relegated, and now those big-ish names are on their way out. Goalkeeper Brad Guzan signed on with Atlanta United a few months ago, and now starting keeper Victor Valdes is leaving the club. Alvaro Negredo is also leaving over the summer.

AS Monaco are looking to maintain a position at the top of France after winning their first title in 16 years. With that in mind, they have singed 20-year-old Belgian international Youri Tielemans for €25 million from Belgian champions Anderlecht. He scored 13 goals for them during their title winning campaign this past season.

Los Angeles FC are planning to build a $30 million training complex on the campus of Cal State Los Angeles. The club revealed the plans after they were approved by the Cal State Board of Trustees. The complex includes a renovation of the current field, as well as housing for players, coaches, staff, and the LAFC Academy team.

US U-20 international and Arsenal prospect Gedion Zelalem will be out for six to nine months after tearing his ACL during the U-20 World Cup opener against Ecuador. Zelalem was loaned out after finding himself outside the Arsenal first team for the last couple seasons.
