UEFA
Champions league- Semi-Finals Second Leg
Atletico
Madrid 2-1 Real Madrid (2-4 on aggregate)
(Niguez 12', Griezmann PK 16')-(Isco 42')
It was looking exciting for Atletico Madrid as they stormed out to a 2-0 lead just after a quarter hour went by, but Isco stamped out their enthusiasm just before half time. Atletico never recovered to display the same energy as the opening minutes and ended up falling in aggregate. Real Madrid makes it to their third Champions League final in the last four years to take on Juventus. They won the previous two over Atletico, but this should present their toughest challenge of the season. Juve have Europe's stingiest defense and went over 600 minutes without conceding a goal in the Champions League until Tuesday night. Real's attack should be well tested in the final, which goes down on June 3 in Cardiff.

Southampton 0-2 Arsenal
(Sanchez 60', Giroud 83')
Arsenal are well aware that they need to win their final games in order to have any chance at the top four and they got off to a good start here. Away wins agaisnt Southampton have eluded them lately as well, so this one is extra nice in that regard. They have three games left in their season, one more than Liverpool, who sit four points ahead of them in the table.

FIFA declined to renew their lead ethics investigators yesterday, and now it turns out they were working on "hundreds" of out standing investigations. The knowledge of those cases is now gone with Hans-Joachim Eckert and Cornel Borbely. The two men said their dismissal was the end of FIFA's ethics reforms, I agreed with them, and this only adds further evidence to back that claim.
Borussia Dortmund's Marc Bartra is back in team training after breaking his arm in the attack on the team bus before their home Champions League match against AS Monaco on April 11. Dortmund have a pair of league games and the German Cup final remaining in their season. I imagine Bartra hopes to play in at least one of those.
