In continuing to show they intend to return to relevance, AC Milan unexpectedly bought Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus for €42 million. They've also went and made him Serie A's highest paid player at €7.5 million per year. The defender had won the league with Juve in each of the last six seasons.

Wesley Sneijder's contract with Galatasaray has been terminated by mutual consent. The Dutch international is hoping to return to Serie A with Sampdoria or hop across the Atlantic to join MLS with Los Angeles FC. He's now free to go where he pleases after giving up €4.5 million to leave Turkey a year early.

CONCACAF ended up forcing French Guiana to forfeit their match agaisnt Honduras in which they fielded an ineligible Florent Malouda. It won't happen again this tournament as Malouda has been suspended for the rest of the tournament, which he wasn't eligible for anyway. French Guiana has also been fined for their blatant disregard of player eligibility rules.

Yesterday was the semi-final draw for the U.S. Open Cup. Sporting Kansas City will host San Jose Earthquakes in one semi-final on August 9 while the winner of the F.C. Cincinnati/Miami match will welcome New York Red Bulls into their home. If Miami win, the other semi will also be on August 9, but an FC Cincinnati hosted match would take place on August 15 That Miami-Cincy match will go down on August 2 after it was stormed out on Wednesday night. The hosting priority for the September 20 final was also determined. SKC took first prize and will host the final if they get there. Second was New York Red Bulls. Miami/Cincinnati would only host of they play San Jose, who cannot host the final.
