North American League Tables

Chicharito is heading back to England. West Ham have agreed to buy the Mexican star from Bayer Leverkusen for 16 million. Mexico's all time leading scorer had been with Leverkusen since 2015, where he moved after scoring 59 times for Manchester United since 2010. West Ham have been busy this summer, they've added Chicharito to a tranfsfer haul that includes Joe Hart and Marko Arnautovic.

The Africa Cup of Nations is expanding to 24 teams and moving to a summer event in 2019. Cameroon will be the hosts of the first expanded African championship in two years time. Africa will no longer steal an odd array of European stars just after the holidays, whcih served as an annoyance for most European clubs.

MLS has announced the official start date for Video Assitant Referees. The system will make its competitive league debut on August 5 for the first slate of games after the MLS All Star Game. It will be used to review goals, red cards, penalties, and cases of mistaken identity. MLS is the first top tier league to adopt an instant replay system, but it's been used in international friendlies and the 2017 Confederations Cup to mixed reviews.
