Headlines
NYCFC will be without Ronald Matarrita for three months after he broke his foot against Minnesota United on Thursday. He had surgery to repair the injury on Friday morning and the recovery timetable sits at 3-4 months. He had been called into Costa Rica's Gold Cup side, so that's been scratched as well. He had two assists in nine matches for NYCFC this year.

Saul Niguez has signed a lengthy extension at Atletico Madrid. He inked a contract that will keep him there until 2026. The 22-year-old has been there since 2007, when he joined as an academy player and he was already on a long term contract.

The Confederations Cup Final will be a testing ground for one more piece of technology. Live player stats will be recorded using tablets during the match for the first time ever. Medical staff and coaches will monitor the data, which will include pressing, running speed, tackles, and passing.
