Wayne Rooney has officially returned to his childhood club of Everton on a free transfer. He signed a two year deal and took a "significant pay cut," although no specific salary was given. His first run at the club ended 13 years ago, when he left for Manchester United. He scored 17 goals during his teenage years with the Toffees. He will wear the number 10 shirt, as he did at United and as Romelu Lukaku did before he was sold to Old Trafford.

Chelsea have sent £34 million to AS Roma in exchange for defender Antonio Rudiger. The 24-year-old has signed a five year deal with Antonio Conte's club. This is a small consolation after losing the battle for Lukaku, although they apparently have another forward deal in the works. They are heavily linked with Alex Sandro of Juventus and midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko as AS Monaco.
