Hooligan's Daily: Morocco join the race for 2026 World Cup

Yesterday's Scores
Premier League
Arsenal 4-3 Leicester City
(Lacazette 2', Welbeck 45+2', Ramsey 83', Giroud 85')-(Okazaki 5', Vardy 29', 56')

This was a thrilling way to start the Premier League season. Arsenal looked great in the opening couple minutes, then fairly flat for the next 80 or so, and then Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud pop off the bench and score a pair of huge goals. The Gunners haven't fared well on opening week of late, so an exciting win is a positive sign for them, even if their faults were fairly obvious.

As for the season as a whole, I like Manchester City to win the whole thing. Pep Guardiola spent way too much money on way too many quality players for them to fall short of a title this year. I like the rest of the top four to include Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal, in that order. Chelsea will make a run, but I feel there is a lot of internal strife going on there and the team hasn't really improved enough for me to be too high on them.

The USA, Mexico, and Canada will not bid on the 2026 alone. They will have some competition. Morocco announced their bid to host the first 48 team World Cup yesterday. They are trying to become the second African nation to hose the premier soccer event in the world and their fifth attempt at hosting overall. Yesterday was the deadline for nations to express their desires to host, and nobody else stepped forward, meaning it will be Morocco vs. the Americas for 2026 hosting rights.
