Headlines
The defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League was apparently the last straw for Bayern Munich as they sacked manager Carlo Ancelotti yesterday after barely more than a season in charge. Ancelotti led them to yet another Bundesliga title last year, but failed in Europe and is not off to a hot start in either competition this year. Former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is the favorite to replace him.

Manchester City confirmed they will be without Benjamin Mendy for the entire season thanks to some torn knee ligaments. The defender left last weekend's 5-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace in the first half. The Frenchman will undergo surgery today and then begin rehabbing the injury. City will be left without an actual left back in the meantime, opening up some interesting winter transfer possibilities.

Montreal Impact signed star midfielder Ignacio Piatti to an extension. His contract was slated to end next summer, but now their leading attacker will be around for longer on a designated player contract. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Colorado Rapids forward Kevin Doyle is retiring after consulting with doctors. Doyle has suffered two concussions this year alone and many more throughout his 16 year career. He had stops in Ireland, the Premier League, and MLS. He joined Colorado in 2015 and made 71 appearances for them, scoring 16 goals.

New York City FC took a step towards getting out of Yankee Stadium yesterday. They put a bid in on a stadium site in Belmont Park. They will compete with the NHL's New York Islanders for the same spot. The movement to get out of the baseball stadium has intensified over this season as they were forced to move a home game last week to Connecticut and may have to move more before the season is out thanks to the Yankees making the MLB playoffs.
